Renae Hill learned Cayuga language from Marge Henry at Wadewayęhsdahnih for a number of years before she began teaching beginner level classes at Dwadewayęhstaˀ Gayogoho:nǫˀ on a full time basis, in 2005. She wanted to pass on the language she had learned and help others learn Cayuga language.
Renae was the sole instructor at D.G. until 2016, when new instructors were hired and the class format changed to having multiple subjects during the day. Drawing on her years of teaching experience, Renae provides direction to the other instructors when needed. Renae currently teaches conversational language and oversees the operation of D.G. as Program Coordinator.
Renae likes to include First language Cayuga speakers in the classroom, so that students can hear the language being spoken and also have the ability to learn any other words they might want to know.
