FULL TIME CLASSES

Full-time classes are typically offered during the standard school year, Monday to Friday from 9am to 4pm.  This program uses a variety of methods including hands-on learning, total physical response (TPR) and lecture style instruction.  The focus of the full-time program, is for students to be able to speak Cayuga therefore, students are involved in various speaking activities throughout the day.  We also have fluent speakers assisting us during class, to ensure accuracy in speaking and word usage.

Year One

The goal for our year one program is, for students is to attain a minimum speaking proficiency of Intermediate low in Cayuga language.  DG has aligned our proficiency requirements to be similar to those set out by ACTFL guidelines.  Please see https://www.actfl.org/ for more information.

Projected program offering:  September 2025

Admission to Year One:

– applicant must submit an online application form
– once application has been received, applicant will be contacted for an interview
– interview will consist of a 40-word entry test, and includes time for any follow up questions from either the applicant or staff
– after all interviews have been completed, successful applicants will be notified (successful applicants must score 100% on their entry test)
– applicants will then have to accept their offer in order to secure their seat in the program

Year Two

Year Three

Projected program offering:  September 2027

Admission to Year Three:

– applicant must submit an online application form
– once application has been received, applicant will be contacted for an interview
– interview is an oral assessment completed in Cayuga language to evaluate the applicant’s speaking proficiency, and includes time for any follow up questions from either the applicant or staff
– after all interviews have been completed, successful applicants will be notified (successful applicants must have a speaking proficiency of Intermediate High)
– applicants will then have to accept their offer in order to secure their seat in the program

PART TIME CLASSES

From time to time, DG also offers beginner level evening classes.  These classes focus on students learning how to converse with one another.  These classes usually run once a week for 10 to 12 weeks.  Admission to these classes is offered on a “first come first serve” basis.  Information about registration will be posted to our social media if/when an evening class is being offered.
